Project Duration :

Design Vision
The goal of this work is to design a pair of high-heeled shoes where leather and damascus steel form one clear shape. The work combines leather, a kiridashi-inspired damascus steel heel, and contemporary footwear design.
Leather gives the shoes their form and structure, while the damascus steel heel creates a strong visual focal point and connects the work to the world of forged materials. The design was created for Tallinn Fashion Week and is based on the idea of combining traditional materials with a contemporary design language.
The focus is on strong form, material balance, and a clear connection between leather, damascus steel, and the construction of the shoe.

Design Process
The design process started from the idea of creating a pair of high-heeled shoes that combine leather and damascus steel. The first focus was the overall shape of the shoes, because the form defines both their visual character and how the different elements work together.
The kiridashi-inspired damascus steel heel was planned as the central feature of the design. The leather upper and the rest of the construction were developed around this element, with careful attention given to proportions, balance and the relationship between the different materials. The project was developed in collaboration with ANNREAL designer Ann Müürsepp, whose contribution helped shape the final form and overall design of the shoes.
The final result is a pair of high-heeled shoes that combine leather, damascus steel and contemporary design into a unified whole. The work focuses on strong form, balanced proportions and a clear relationship between material, function and aesthetics.
Process included:
Development of the overall shoe silhouette and proportions
Design of the kiridashi-inspired damascus steel heel
Integration of leather and steel into a unified structure
Construction and shaping of the leather upper
Development of the heel attachment and support structure
Refinement of material transitions and overall balance
Fitting and adjustment of the final shoe form

Design Outcome
The final result is a pair of high-heeled shoes that bring together leather and damascus steel in one clear form. The design is built around the relationship between these materials, with leather creating the main structure and a kiridashi-inspired damascus steel heel forming the central visual element.
The leather upper and the rest of the construction are developed around the heel so that all parts work together as a unified whole. The damascus steel heel serves not only as a structural component but also as a defining visual feature that gives the shoes their character and connects the work to the world of forged materials.
Material transitions, proportions, and structural details are developed to create a clear and balanced design. The result is a strong and cohesive pair of shoes where leather and damascus steel work together to form a complete whole.
